Pablo and James met in 2007 when they were both a part of British electronic outfit UNKLE. After parting ways with the band in 2012, Clements and Griffith started working together as Toydrum, releasing new music and pursuing projects in film and television. Toydrum have since established themselves as a distinctive and accomplished force in contemporary screen music, creating atmospheric and memorable scores across television and film.

Among their most prominent television projects is Apple TV+’s acclaimed spy thriller Slow Horses, for which Toydrum co-compose the score with Daniel Pemberton. Their work on the series has earned significant industry recognition, with the music for its third and fifth seasons receiving Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series. The score has also been recognised with nominations at the BAFTA Television Awards and the Ivor Novello Awards.

Toydrum’s television work also includes Netflix’s sports documentary Untold: Vinnie Jones, Disney+’s music documentary Camden, Amazon’s mystery drama Three Pines, AMC’s science-fiction series Soulmates, and the Sky and HBO thriller-comedy Two Weeks to Live. They also contributed music to ITV productions including Deep Water, whose title song was created in collaboration with singer-songwriter Beth Orton, as well as the dramas Tell Me Everything and Platform 7.

Their film work has seen Toydrum collaborate closely with writer, director and actor Alice Lowe, composing the scores for Prevenge and Timestalker. Both soundtracks were subsequently released by Invada Records. Their wider filmography includes London Fields, Future World, A Guide to Second Date Sex, Sweetheart, The Banishing and Detour, with the latter earning a place on the shortlist for Best Score at the British Independent Film Awards.

As recording artists, Toydrum releases include Distant Focus Vol. 1, which featured collaborations with artists including Gavin Clark, followed by the full-length album Evangelist. Music from Evangelist found a further audience through its inclusion in Shane Meadows’ television productions This Is England ’90 and The Virtues.

Their later releases include My Eye on You (To Reinvision), a collection of reimagined Gavin Clark songs featuring contributions from Nick Cave, Warren Ellis and Trentemøller, and Fields of Madness, an instrumental album featuring collaborations with Alex Maas of The Black Angels and James Bagshaw of Temples.

Across their work for television, film and recorded music, Toydrum have built a reputation for evocative, genre-spanning compositions and ambitious collaborations, earning both critical recognition and a growing body of work across the international screen-music landscape.
