ABOUT

TOYDRUM are a Brighton based organic electronic music duo, Pablo Clements and James Griffith. The pair met in 2007 when they were both a part of British electronic outfit UNKLE. After parting ways with UNKLE in 2012, Clements and Griffith started working together as TOYDRUM, releasing new music on their UNDERSCORE label and pursuing projects in film and television.

In 2014 James and Pablo released their first EP, DISTANT FOCUS VOL1, collaborating with artists including Gavin Clark and Joel Wells, followed a year later with the critically acclaimed album EVANGELIST. Songs from the album featured heavily on the soundtrack of Shane Meadows’ THIS IS ENGLAND '90', and THE VIRTUES. Following releases include 'My Eye On You (To Reinvision)', an album full of reworked Gavin Clark songs, featuring guest artists Nick Cave, Warren Ellis and Trentemoller, and FIELDS OF MADNESS a collection of cinematic instrumentals, and collaborations with Alex Mass from Black Angels and James Edward Bagshaw from The Temples.

TOYDRUM’s film work includes Alice Lowe’s comedy horror debut feature, PREVENGE, which received glowing reviews at TIFF and Venice film festivals. The soundtrack was released on Invada Records, and featured in both Empire and Fact Magazine’s score of the year lists in 2018. Other credits include thriller LONDON FIELDS, starring Billy Bob Thornton and Johnny Depp; FUTURE WORLD, starring and directed by James Franco; teen comedy A GUIDE TO SECOND DATE SEX, starring George MacKay and Alexandra Roach; and the Chris Smith feature DETOUR, starring Tye Sheridan, Emory Cohen and Bel Powley, which was shortlisted for Best Score at the BIFA awards. TOYDRUM have recently finished scoring Chris Smith’s latest horror feature THE BANISHING, starring Sean Harris and John Lynch, and is due for release in 2021.

TOYDRUM’S television work includes the upcoming AMC sci-fi drama SOULMATES, from Black Mirror writers William Bridges and Brett Goldstein; Sky1 thriller-comedy TWO WEEKS TO LIVE, starring Maisie Williams and Sian Clifford; and ITV thriller DEEP WATER, directed by Harry Wootliff and starring Anna Friel and featuring a collaboration with singer-songwriter Beth Orton on the show’s title song.

TOYDRUM are currently working on Alice Lowe’s new feature TIMESTALKER and their new album, due for release in 2021.
